3. Hear their side of the story; Listen Patiently

Think of the time when you argued with your teen over a similar issue. How did you behave? Even before he or she could complete what they had to say, you bombarded them with advice telling them what was right and wrong. You will be able to communicate effectively with your teen only if you learn to listen to them patiently. When there is someone to listen to them, they will automatically come back in future to discuss issues of their life whether it concerns academics or relationships. Do not make judgments without hearing the other side of the story.
