3. Buying a pair of pumps: What to look for?

3.1 Material:

The first factor to consider is the material. It should be comfortable because remember you will have your shoes on throughout the day. Leather is the best choice as it is soft. It also absorbs sweat caused due to prolonged wearing.

3.2 Fit and Size:

The wrong fit and size can make your pair of pumps very uncomfortable. A smaller size hurts the foot when walking while a large size looks shabby with the foot coming out and then settling back every time you walk. Choose the right size. If you do not know your foot size, you can measure it at the foot scale in shoe stores. Women with broad feet should never opt for pumps with a narrow front like the pointed-toe pumps.

3.3 Durability:

Buy pump shoes that are highly durable and can stand the wear of everyday use.

3.4 Heel Height and Shape:

Pumps are available in heels of varying height and shapes. There are slender and block heels. Before you buy a pair of pumps, try them on and see the height and type of heel you can carry without much difficulty.
